Portimão
The swim will take place at the beautiful Praia da Rocha next the Portimão Marina.
Alternatively, in case the ocean conditions are not the best, the swim can take place at the Marina Portimão Beach, right next to Praia da Rocha.
The swim will feature a 1 km loop course with an Australian exit.
Athletes racing the SPRINT distance and the corporate competition will do one loop. Athletes doing the MIDDLE distance will do two loops ( 2 km ) and come to shore once for the Australian exit and hydration and athletes doing the long course will do 3 laps ( 3 km ) and come to shore twice for the Australian exit and hydration.
The swim race features a dry start. The start and finish-line are on land, so make sure that you start and finish at the arch on the sand.
Portimão
The bike course will feature a neutral start from the Race Village.
After finishing the bike course, athletes must ride back on a neutral, open to traffic course, to the start point at the Race venue where the medals will be awarded.
the neutral start and finish is about 10 km.
The course isn’t without challenges and some short climbs but for the most part, very accessible.
The course is partially closed which means that there is controlled (by the police and staff) traffic on the course.
Please put your safety always in first place and watch for traffic on course.
the course consists of a 36 km loop. If you are doing the SPRINT you do one loop, the MIDDLE two loops and the LONG, 3 loops.
Portimão
The run course start and finish-line is right in the heart of the Race Venue next to Praia da Rocha and will feature a unique pontoon start.
The run course is not closed to pedestrians, however, it has been used twice before and it has worked quite well with a stunning view always following the coast line and Portimão Marina.
Each lap is 7 km long, so if you are doing the SPRINT or Corporate you will do only one lap. If you are doing the MIDDLE, two laps and if you are doing the LONG you will do 3 laps.
We have a policy of zero tolerance for littering. We are determined to make this a “leave nothing but footprints” event. Any trash from food or drinks you consume must be placed in the proper containers next to aid stations and along the course.
Please make sure you slow down enough (on the bike in particular) to take on any nutrition needs you may have, and make sure you secure them well . At the aid stations there is a dropping zone for your litter that you must absolutely respect.
Of course we understand involuntarily dropping trash, but voluntarily dropping trash outside the proper zones may result in DQF. We are there to help keeping the course and venue as clean as possible, but we all have a roll to play in achieving that goal.
We are sure you appreciate these measures as much as both, we, all residents and local businesses, do. In order to make sure we are welcome back every year lets all do our best and be proud of our attitude and care for the environment.
